En ole ollut kovin tuottelias blogisti viime kuukausina. Muutoin olen kyllä kirjoitellut. Työstän kaksi saarnaa viikottain, kirjoitan rukouksia ja viime aikoina myös raamattuluentoja. Teen jatkuvasti kotikutoisia mainostekstejä ja kuvauksia seurakunnan tapahtumista.
Lisäksi pidän edelleen kolumnia Christina-lehdessä ja kirjoittelen meidän seurakuntajulkaisuun. Siitä muuten löytyy kivoja kirjoituksia meidän toiminnastamme kuvien ja mainosten lisäksi. Seurakunnan syys/talvikausi on pyörähtänyt käyntiin, vaikka vielä on joitain seurakuntalaisia palaamatta Floridan lämpöön. Kirkkosali on sunnuntaisin jo puolillaan ja kahvia kuluu yli sata kuppia.
Kahvinkeitossa meitä on ollut auttelemassa uusi vapaaehtoisemme Teppo Honkanen. Teppo on seurakunnan vapaaehtoistyön ammattilaisia Turusta, ja hänen täällä olonsa on ollut yksi suurimmista kiitosaiheistani tänä syksynä. Teppo on auttanut meitä Leikkikoulun rakennus- ja korjausprojekteissa, toimistotöissä, keittiöllä ja auto-ongelmissa. Harvoin tapaa näin työintoista, palveluasenteista ja monitaitoista ihmistä. Teppo palaa pian Suomeen ja vastuunkantotehtäviin Maata näkyvissä -festareille. Suremme hänen lähtöään, mutta iloitsemme siitä, että hän on luvannut palata tänne taas vuoden vaihteen jälkeen.
Meillä on täällä iso muutos meneillään monelle rakkaan kirkkorakennuksemme siirtyessä uusille omistajille. Meidän seurakuntamme vaihtaa kaupan myötä rooleja pitkäaikaisen vuokralaisseurakuntamme, helluntalais-latinokirkko Iglesia Christianan, kanssa. Muutos on askel kohti tulevaisuutta ja mahdollistaa seurakunnan elinkelpoisuuden myös tulevina vuosikymmeninä. Ymmärrettävästi prosessi ei ole ollut helppo, mutta meillä on ollut viimeiset kaksi vuotta ammattitaitoinen ja asialle vihkiytynyt työryhmä päätöstä valmistelemassa.
Muutoksia on ollut myös kotirintamalla. Elsa-tyttäremme ilmoitti kesän lopulla jäävänsä Suomeen, missä molemmat veljensäkin asuvat. Tyttö kävi täällä lokakuussa pari viikkoa meitä moikkaamassa ja jättämässä jäähyväisiä Floridan ja Kanadan kavereilleen. Nyt Elsalla on jo hankittuna koulun oheen kaksi työpaikkaa ja ensimmäinen oma vuokra-asunto hyvän ystävän kanssa Helsingin keskustasta. Tuomas-veli ja isovanhemmat asuvat parin kilometrin säteellä ja muitakin perään katsojia löytyy – ei että meidän itsenäinen nuori nainen niitä kaipaisi.
Mekin muutimme kaksi viikkoa sitten. Asuimme kaksi vuotta samassa vuokra-asuntokompleksissa, joka oli ihan ok, ennen kaikkea se oli tosi koiraystävällinen. Asumme nyt vain kilometrin päässä edellisestä asunnosta tosi kivalla townhouse-alueelle. Täällä ei ole liian paljon vuokra-asuntoja, jotka huolisivat meidän Tessun (42 kg/ 92 pounds) kokoisia pikkuhauveleita. Me kaikki kolme viihdymme todella hyvin uudessa asunnossa ja alueella. Ilman upeita ja ahkeria muuttomiehiämme siirtyminen uuteen asuntoon olisi ollut hintava ja raskas. Lämmin kiitos Eerolle, Tepolle ja Mikalle avusta!!!
Ensimmäistä kertaa vuosiin olen aika ajoin kamppaillut oman henkisen jaksamiseni kanssa. Mitään syytä huoleen ei kuitenkaan ole. Kuulun niiden valtavan etuoikeutettujen joukkoon, joiden puolesta jatkuvasti rukoillaan. Minua kantavat niin omat seurakuntalaiset täällä kuin myös ystävät Suomessa. Rukouksen voima on ihmeellinen, kuten moni teistä kokemuksesta tietää. Olen nyt pitänyt enemmän etätyöpäiviä ja meidän ihana valtuustomme velvoitti minut ottamaan yhden sunnuntaivapaan ennen joulua. En voi kyllin kiittää siitä, miten huolehtiva ja hyväntahtoinen tämä seurakunta on pastoriaan kohtaan.
Me vietämme täällä ensi viikonloppuna Suomen isänpäivää lihapullalounaan ja kakkukahvien merkeissä. Sitä ennen saamme kuulla terveisiä Burundista Afrikasta, pastoripariskunta Jamie ja Lea Petersin välittäminä. Siitä parin viikon kuluttua meillä vierailee rock-pastori Pontus J. Back ja kohta ollaankin adventtiajassa.
Muutenkin on kalenteri täynnä kaikkea kivaa. Jos olet alueella, tule käymään kirkolla. Joka tapauksessa toivotan syksyysi valoa ja iloa missä oletkin! Kun tunnemme Jeesuksen, kaamoskaan ei meiltä valoa vie.

EARLY NOVEMBER NEWS IN ENGLISH
I have not been a very productive blogger during the last few months. But I have written. I produce two weekly sermons, write prayers and, recently, also lectures on the Bible. I continuously draft, in my own non-professional style, texts for ads and descriptions of church events. Additionally, I still keep a column in the Christina magazine and write for our church publication. The latter, by the way, offers nice articles on our activities, besides pictures and ads. The fall/winter season has opened in our congregation, even though some parishioners are yet to return to the warmth of Florida. The sanctuary of our church is half on full on Sundays and over 100 cups of coffee are served during our coffee social.
We have been fortunate to have Teppo Honkanen, our new volunteer, to help in coffee making. Teppo is a volunteer pro from Turku and he has been one of the biggest sources of joy to me this fall. Teppo has helped us in maintenance and repairs at the Preschool, in the office, kitchen and auto problems. One rarely meets someone this dedicated, service-minded and multi-skilled. Teppo will soon return to Finland. We regret his departure but are happy over his promise to come back after the turn of the year.
We are witnessing a big change here with the transfer of our church building to the new owners. Our congregation will switch roles with our long-time tenant, Iglesia Christiana, the Latino Pentecostal church. The change is a step towards the future and a precondition for our viability as a congregation for future decades. Understandably, the process is not an easy one, nut we have had a professional and dedicated working group preparing our decision making.
We are having changes also on the home front. Elsa decided to stay in Finland, where both of his brothers live, after the summer. She came to say hello to us for a couple of weeks in October and to say goodbye to her Floridian friends. Now Elsa has already two jobs lined up and a rental apartment with a good friend in downtown Helsinki. Her brother Tuomas and her grandparents live within a mile, and there are also other chaperons available, not that the young independent lady should feel a need for any.
We moved a couple of weeks ago. We lived for two years in a rental apartment community which was OK, above all dog friendly. We now live half-a-mile from our previous home, in a very nice townhouse condo community. There are not many communities here which would accept sly dogs of the size of our Tessu (45kg/90lbs).
For the first time in years, I have struggled with my own resources. There is no cause for alarm, however. I belong to those extremely privileged people who are blessed with continues prayers by others. I am carried by my own parishioners here as well as by friends in Finland. The power of prayer is wonderful, as many of you know from experience. I have now had more work-at-home days and our superb Council made me take one Sunday off before Christmas. I find it hard to thank enough my congregation for the care and generosity shown to me.
We will celebrate (Finnish) Fathers day this weekend with a meatball lunch. Before that, we will be able to hear greetings from Burundi, Africa, by Jamie and Lea Peters, a pastor couple. A couple of weeks later, we get a visit from Pontus J. Back, the rocking pastor, and soon thereafter we will be in the Advent season. Also otherwise, our calendar is full of all kinds of fun events. If you are in the area, come visit our church. In any case, I wish you joy and light wherever you are! When we know Jesus, even the darkest season cannot take our Light away-
